"You've been a fool
And so have I,
But come and be my wife.
And let us try,
Before we die,
To make some sense of life.
We're neither pure, nor wise, nor good
We'll do the best we know.
We'll build our house and chop our wood
And make our garden grow...
And make our garden grow."
Lyrics from "Make Our Garden Grow" from the musical Candide,
by Leonard Bernstein, based on the novel Candide by Voltaire

I'm curious: why do you write G-d if you don't belveie in God? Is it out of respect for people who do, or out of habit or training or upbringing? Also, do you get notified whenever someone leaves a comment, and do you ever respond to them?I'm really enjoying reading your blog, beeteedubs. I had a thought last night before I fell asleep: blogging allows you to be a columnist without deadlines, editing, restrictions or obligations (and without pay I suppose, though you don't get that for student papers anyway), just with the freedom to write what you want when you want. It's pretty neat.
